Ron founded BiP Solutions in 1984 to publish the UK's first directory of public sector contract opportunities, Contrax Weekly. Prior to this he had a successful career in the motor and cleaning trades. He was CEO of the company since its creation, before becoming Executive Chairman during the restructure of the business into three Divisions in May 2012. Ron has been instrumental in defining BiP's market-leading solutions and has overseen the company's expansion into providing allied services and solutions that facilitate the interaction between buyer and supplier communities. Ron is also an accomplished writer on procurement issues and a speaker and presenter at conferences nationally and internationally. He now focuses on the strategic direction of the company and its expansion into new markets.

Linda joined BiP in August 2011. As Chief Financial Officer, she plays an integral role in providing financial and strategic insight to the leadership teams of the Business Intelligence and Global Services Divisions, the Executive Board of BiP Solutions and key external stakeholders. Reporting to the Executive Chairman, Linda is responsible for providing essential input in the operational and commercial objectives of BiP and is central to developing strategies for growth and innovation - including future acquisitions. Linda has a proven track record of managing successful finance functions within both the UK and overseas, including Europe and the United States. Linda joined BiP from Eurofriction Ltd where she acted as Finance and Customer Services Director. She is a Bachelor of Arts in Accountancy and studied at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. She has considerable experience of operating at senior board level within high-growth organisations across a variety of industry sectors.

Simon joined BiP Solutions in 1998 and has overall responsibility for the Business Intelligence Division. He has successfully managed the organisation of numerous high-profile events including conferences and exhibitions for the Ministry of Defence and the Scottish Government. In 2008, he oversaw the launch of Procurex Scotland, an annual conference and exhibition aimed at both the public and private sectors. Simon was responsible for the inception and successful delivery of the first Procurex National conference and exhibition at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham in March 2010. Simon regularly attends the Harvard Business School in Boston, USA, which specifically addresses leadership development and the global business challenge. In 2008 he successfully completed the Building and Leading Customer-Centric Organisations course and in 2009 the Leading Professional Service Firms course.

Scott joined BiP Solutions as IT Director in 1999 and was appointed Commercial Director in 2004. He now has overall responsibility for the Global Services Division, which includes identifying and developing new business opportunities for BiP in the UK and overseas. Scott has experience in a number of international procurement projects, including assignments in Kenya, Kosovo, Montenegro and the United Arab Emirates.

Grahame is responsible for the successful delivery of the Business Intelligence Division's day to day operations, as well as contributing to the strategic direction and overall profitability of the Division. He is accountable for the quality and speed of delivery of the firm's online and print information services, including business intelligence services such as Tracker, the Government Opportunities website and publications such as MOD Defence Contracts Bulletin (MOD DCB). Before joining BiP in January 2003, Grahame worked in various senior editorial and publishing roles for the media company EMAP plc. Grahame regularly attends the Harvard Business School in Boston, USA, which specifically addresses leadership development and the global business challenge. Harvard Business School sets a high standard and in 2008 Grahame successfully completed the Delivering Information Services course and, in 2009, the Leading Professional Service Firms course.

Gillian is BiP Solutions' Global Services Division Senior Executive Officer. She has worked for the company since 1986 and has experience of many of the company's major business functions. Responsible for the sales, marketing and customer services functions within the Division, Gillian has been integral to the adoption of e-Tendering with a wide range of public sector clients and their supplier bases and has extensive experience within the public procurement marketplace, working with both buyers and suppliers in the adoption of best practice processes and engagement of their communities. A member of the Institute of Customer Services, Gillian further utilises her experience to promote customer service to improve business performance through demonstrating the tangible return on investment and measurable impact of a positive customer experience.

David joined BiP Solutions as Operations Director in March 2009 and became Chief Information Officer as the company restructured into separate divisions. He brings 17 years of diverse experience in bridging business, process and IT solutions. Prior to joining BiP Solutions, David was Development Director for SunGard where he was responsible for product development, software solution implementations, training services and driving strategic change within the business. His background combines considerable project management experience with business process design and the design, development and maintenance of information management systems. His remit also includes responsibility for the company's Human Resources team.

Jim McPhillimy Jim McPhillimy, Non-Executive Director

Jim is Group Services Director for , a FTSE 100 listed company with nearly 17,000 employees based in Perth, Scotland. He joined SSE in 1995 and is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer. Previously, he was HR Director and formerly Head of Operations in Scotland for the same organisation. Jim is also Chairman of one of Scottish Enterprise's five Regional Advisory Boards (Tayside) and is also Chairman of Southern Electric Trustees Ltd. His experience in HR and governance will be particularly useful as BiP continues to expand.

 

Norman Rose Alan Stewart, Non-Executive Director

Alan is a senior executive at plc's newly formed Scottish office. His career started with KPMG in 1977 where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant and worked in audit and corporate finance. He moved into investment banking in 1988 and joined Cenkos in April 2009. Alan's areas of specialism include Energy and Technology and he is also a Non-Executive Director of Thistle Pub Co II plc and Thistle Pub Co III plc. He has advised many companies, from both the UK and abroad, on flotation and other aspects of the various UK stock markets. His particular focus at BiP Solutions will be to assist in guiding the company through the financial aspects of its continued development.

Duncan Eaton Professor Duncan Eaton

Duncan was a Non-Executive Director of BiP Solutions from 2006 to 2009. Duncan has over 40 years' experience in public sector and civil service management and procurement, operating at chief executive level for 16 of those years. He established and was CEO of the NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency between 2000 and 2006. He is a past President of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) and the Health Care Supply Association and is a recipient of lifetime achievement awards from both Government Opportunities (GO) and the Health Care Supply Association. He also received the Swinbank Medal from CIPS. Duncan is a Non-Executive Director of several health care-related companies and has been a member of two OGC Procurement Capability Review teams. He is also the Special Advisor to an All Party Parliamentary Health Group.

 

David Smith David Smith CB

David joined BiP Solutions as a Special Advisor in March 2014, following a40 year career within the public sector, of which 26 years were within public procurement. David spent 11 years as one of the UK Government's most senior and influential Commercial Directors at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

As Commercial Director of DWP, David was responsible for all commercial and contract management activity and an annual procurement spend of £5 billion. He was a member of a number of the Department's Executive Team Committees (including the Investment Committee, the Portfolio Management Committee, the Change Delivery Committee, the Information Assurance Committee, the IT Executive, Portfolio Management Committee and the Finance Executive Team) and led the Department's Commercial Function of 400 people. David has been a Crown representative for seven of Government's biggest suppliers, a member of the Efficiency and Reform Group's Procurement Reform Board and Commercial Relationships Board and HM Treasury's Major Projects Review Group (MPRG). In addition, David has served as Deputy Chief Procurement Officer for the UK Government.

During his career, David has become a leading figure within procurement and commercial management. His profile nationally and internationally has been enhanced by extensive lecturing in the UK, Europe, Africa, Middle East and Australia, and he has advised governments around the world on procurement strategy and delivery. This experience and insight saw David elected as the President of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing Supply and a member of its Board of Management and Council. David was made a Companion of the Order of the Bath (CB) in the 2009 New Year Honours.
